GINA RUIZ grew up in the shadows of Hollywood.  She spent her high school years sneaking out her bedroom window, escaping teen doldrums and discovering the world through Art, by eye opening awareness of human nature, possibilities and dreams.  And in a fluke, landed an an internship with the Oscar winning Milena Canonero.  Which only years later, brought her full circle to the amazing world of costume design.

GINA graduated from college with a Major in Economics, to appease her parents and a Minor in Dance, to learn to leap.  The beauty that is found in Art never lost its hold on her and after a course in Fashion Design, she learned the business of design and opened her own company, designing women's contemporary  sportswear.  She was off.   In her first year, she was nominated as a "California Rising Star" by the west coast fashion industry.

While running her own company and creating her own work, GINA fell in love with New York City.  It ws too much not to be there full-time, so she sold up, packed up and moved to NYC, where she has been based ever since.  Being part of Manhattan's professional design arena allowed GINA to travel the world.  She spent 5 years living over seas and many seasons as a designer in NY's Fashion Week.  New York opened many doors within and all around her.  It taught her new ways to translate, express and manifest her creativity.

As a fashion designer, GINA was also a stylist for many editorial shoots and print campaigns.  She was hired to do the custom designed costumes for the Black Eyed Peas World Tour 2009, an assignment that led her back to Hollywood, where she opened another door and entered the world of Costume Design.  It was a natural step for GINA as her experience and understanding of the aesthetic principal that we are judged, within seconds, by what we wear fused her ability to combine Fashion, Film, Art, History and Culture in developing characters.   As a Costume Designer, she has found her home, doing what she loves.
